How Does This Benefit You And Your Pet?

The RCVS is the regulatory body for the veterinary profession and they set the standards for a practice to meet. The RCVS appoint independent inspectors who come and inspect our premises every four years. They can also do spot checks whenever they choose, thus ensuring that a very high standard is maintained at all times.

The inspection covers all aspects of a working veterinary practice. There are too many to list them all here, but some of the requirements are that we meet strict criteria for in-patient facilities and patient care, diagnostic, theatre and laboratory equipment, continuing education of our staff and high standards of clinical notes. We must comply with Health and Safety law for staff and for clients.

The physical aspects of the practice are also covered, for example cleanliness, accessibility and general maintenance.

Additional Accreditations

Kinfauns is a registered training practice for veterinary nurses. We must meet a comprehensive set of requirements in order to be a training practice. These requirements are set by the RCVS and the Qualifications and Curriculum authority.

The practice must provide a high level of care, equipment and facilities. We must also have the staffing resources available in order to provide training within the practice.

Two of the permanent veterinary surgeons and the head nurse have completed the training to be NVQ assessors for veterinary nurses. They must continue to attend further training sessions themselves in order to continue to train nurses.

We have successfully trained many student nurses to become qualified veterinary nurses.

Practice Owners

For many years the practice has been owned and run by Mike Harrison and Alan Smith, with the help of the other vets, nurses, receptionists and administrative staff.
